Panel beeped 9 times on the keypad in front of the homeowner, still not sure what I did right
So I was in a split level out in Naperville finishing up a takeover job, new board, all zones rewired, and I was in the basement on a step stool with the cover off the can when the homeowner walks down to ask me something. I had just powered the panel back up and was punching in my installer code when the keypad started chirping at me, 9 beeps, count them, right in front of the guy. My first move was to just stay calm and not start mashing buttons because that never helps. Turns out I had popped a zone resistor loose when I pulled the can open, one leg was sitting on the terminal screw but not tight. I reseated it, ran a walk test on all 8 zones while he watched, and everything read clean. He ended up tipping me $40 and asking for cards to hand to his neighbors, which never happens. What do you all do when a panel throws a trouble code right as the customer is standing there, fix it quiet or explain it out loud?
