I used to think wireless sensors were a bad idea for a commercial job

I was setting up a system for a small office in Springfield last Tuesday, and the main door sensor kept giving false alarms. It turned out the metal frame was messing with the signal, and the battery was dying faster than I told the client. I ended up running a thin wire along the door trim to a hardwired contact instead, which fixed it right away. Has anyone else had to switch a wireless sensor to wired on the spot?

Yeah, the metal frame thing. Did you check if it was just that one spot, or did you have to test a bunch of other sensors in the building after that?

Probably not a big deal unless the whole system is faulty.

Actually had a similar thing happen with a glass door once. The metal wasn't the only problem, the low battery signal was just delayed by the system. It can make one bad sensor look like an isolated issue when the power supply for the whole wireless panel might be getting weak.
