I thought those new magnetic door contacts were just a gimmick until a job in Tampa last week.

The old screw holes on a client's fancy front door were stripped out, and the magnets held strong with zero drilling. Anyone else tried these on a tricky install yet?

See this everywhere now, stuff gets over-engineered when a simple fix works better.

Ha, maybe I should've read the manual for my last job.

Pretty sure manuals aren't the problem here. Most stuff comes with a basic set of instructions that actually work if you follow them step by step. The issue is people skip steps or try to wire things different ways and then blame the manual when it doesn't work. I've seen people hook up a thermostat backwards because they didn't look at the diagram, then say the instructions were wrong. Manuals exist for a reason, even if they're boring to read.
