I saw a DIY smart home install at a friend's place in Denver that made me cringe

They had a glass break sensor stuck to a window with double sided tape and the control panel right next to the front door. I mean, is the convenience of a quick setup worth the obvious security gaps, or am I just being a pro installer snob about it?

yeah I actually read something about this recently where a security guy was saying most DIY systems are basically just for show anyway. like that glass break sensor taped to the window might actually work but if the control panel is right by the front door someone could just smash it or rip it off the wall before the alarm goes off. the double sided tape thing is a whole other level of sketchy though lmao, that thing is gonna fall off when the weather changes and then you're just paying for a useless sensor.
