Changed my mind on glass break sensors after one failed test at a job in Mesa
I used to skip glass break sensors on most installs and just tell people the window contacts were enough. Last Tuesday I was finishing a house in Mesa, and during the walk test the homeowner tapped on the back slider with a key while the system was armed. Nothing happened. I stood there for a second, then pulled the sensor off my van and put it right next to the glass. Ran the test again, tripped in under two seconds. The homeowner asked me why I did not just do that from the start, and I did not have a good answer. Now I add one to any room with a big window, even if the customer did not ask for it. Anyone got a cheaper way to do this that does not look ugly on the frame?
