Shoutout to the guy who said to preheat my air fryer for 5 minutes
I always skipped preheating because I thought it was a waste of time. But last week I decided to actually try it for some frozen chicken tenders. The difference was pretty noticeable, they came out way crispier on the outside and still juicy inside. I mean maybe it's just me but I think I'm a convert now. Anyone else notice a big difference with preheating or is it just for certain foods?

Exactly 5 minutes is the sweet spot for most air fryers. I watched a guy on YouTube test it with a thermometer and most models hit the right temp right around the 4-5 minute mark. For stuff like frozen chicken or battered fish, that preheat is where the magic happens because it sears the outer layer immediately and locks the moisture in. If you toss it in cold, you end up with that weird steamed texture on the outside before it gets crispy. Same goes for things like tater tots or onion rings, they really need that initial blast of heat to get that golden crunch. So yeah, the preheat is a game changer for anything that's breaded or battered.

Oh yeah, it makes a huge difference with frozen stuff especially. I used to skip it too but now I always let it preheat and my fries and nuggets come out way better.
