My air fryer basket broke mid-cook and launched fries everywhere

Last Sunday I was making frozen french fries at 400 degrees and about 8 minutes in I heard a loud pop. The basket handle snapped right off and the whole thing tipped forward inside the drawer. I ended up with a pile of half-cooked fries stuck to the heating element and a smoky kitchen. Had to unplug it and wait 20 minutes to dig the fries out with tongs. Anyone else had a handle snap on them mid-recipe?

User error" is a stretch. A handle snapping off mid-cook isn't something you should expect to plan around, that's a safety issue with the part itself.

Honestly this sounds like user error more than a design flaw. Frozen fries at 400 degrees is pretty aggressive for most air fryers, they warn you about overcrowding and shaking halfway through. Pop the handle snapping is probably from stress on cheap plastic parts, sure, but maybe check your model's max temp before blaming the appliance. Plus half the fun of air fryers is the chaos factor, you gotta expect some mess when you're cooking at those temps. Blaming the basket instead of your choices just feels like passing the buck.
