I finally had to tell my MIL to stop preheating my air fryer for every single thing
She was preheating for 10 minutes just to toast a single slice of bread and I found her doing it when I came home early last Thursday. Has anyone else had to deal with a family member who refuses to read the recipe and just hits buttons?

Why do you assume she's wrong when air fryers actually work better with a quick preheat for even cooking? If she's been doing it for years without burning anything, maybe she's onto something about how the machine behaves. I'd say let the woman keep her toast consistent instead of policing a 10 minute warm up.

Man that's a whole other level of overthinking, @willow672. I feel like people get stuck on one setting and just apply it to everything without stopping to think if it actually makes sense for the task. It's the same as my dad using the microwave's popcorn button for reheating coffee, works most of the time but the logic is totally broken.
