Hot take: preheating the air fryer is mostly pointless

I saw a comparison on a cooking science site that showed preheating only saves like 2 minutes on a 20 minute cook time. I stopped doing it a month ago and everything comes out just as crispy. Anyone else skip the preheat and get the same results?

My dad still preheats the oven for frozen pizza, drives me nuts.

Wait, does he actually think the box is lying about the cooking time or does he just like the ritual of it? Like is he standing there watching the oven get hot for 15 minutes before the pizza even goes in?
