Heard someone say preheating the air fryer is pointless for most things
I was at a cookout last weekend and my cousin Mike swore he never preheats his Cosori and says the food comes out the same. But then I tried making frozen chicken wings at 400 without preheating and they came out kinda soggy on one side. Idk maybe it depends on what you're cooking? Anyone have a rule for when preheating actually matters or is Mike right?

Preheating frozen wings is a totally different ballgame than fresh stuff. Your cousin Mike might be right for some things but I've had the same soggy issue with frozen stuff if I don't let it heat up first.

Totally agree, @the_joseph. I actually just read something from a food science blog about how frozen wings have that extra layer of ice crystals, so if you don't let them come up to room temp first, the moisture just steams them instead of crisping up. It makes sense, you know, because the outside can't get hot enough fast enough to dry out that surface moisture. I've had better luck patting them dry with paper towels too, even if they're not fully thawed.
