Finally broke down and used a thermometer for my air fryer chicken

I always eyeballed it and ended up with dry breasts or raw thighs for like 6 months. Took me 45 minutes of poking around to realize my basket has hot spots and the thickest part was 15 degrees off.

Read that thermometers are the one thing most home cooks skip and it shows. The hot spots thing makes total sense, I saw a video where a guy mapped his basket with a temp gun and it was a total mess. Bet your chicken's way better now that you know where to poke it.

Yeah the temp gun thing is eye opening. I did that myself a while back and found a solid 30-40 degree difference between one corner and the center. It explained so many dried out pieces I'd written off as just bad luck. Now I pretty much only probe in that sweet spot I found and it's night and day. I've started telling people to just spend the 15 bucks on a basic instant read and save yourself the grief. It's not fancy but it will change how you cook, I guarantee it.
