Talked to my grandpa about chatbots and he made a point I hadn't thought of

He asked me if AI was going to make us forget how to talk to real people. Said back in the 80s he had to actually call a bank teller to check his balance. I didn't have an answer. Has anyone else had a conversation like that with an older relative that made you stop and think?

Is it really that different though? People still have to talk to each other in real life for the important stuff. @lane.joel your grandpa had to call a bank teller but now we just text or email them instead. The core skill of communicating what you need is still there, it's just the method that changed. My grandpa said the same thing about calculators making us forget how to do math, but nobody's forgotten how to count money. Plus chatbots handle the boring stuff so we can focus on the actual human conversations that matter. I think the whole forgetting how to talk thing is way overblown.
