My AI chatbot reply quality jumped 40% after I switched prompts
I run a small customer service bot for my Etsy shop and the replies were always stiff and robotic. About 3 weeks ago I started adding a short persona description at the top of each session like 'you are a friendly craft store owner in Portland'. The difference was night and day in under 10 queries, replies felt way more natural. Has anyone else tried tweaking the system prompt like that for their own bots?

Did you add a specific voice or just the basic personality?

oh man, @williamschmidt i actually see this totally different lol. i feel like the basic personality is way too generic and ends up sounding like every other bot out there. a specific voice makes them feel more real and memorable, you know? like i've tweaked mine with phrases i actually use and it made a huge difference in how people chat with him. without that, it's just a robot reading a script and nobody wants that.
