Just realized that $300 AI grammar checker I bought in 2020 now feels like a relic.

It was a lifesaver for my proposals back then, but the free tools that came out last year do the same job without the clunky interface, so has anyone else had a paid tool become obsolete almost overnight?

Wow, that's rough... but what kind of stuff does your old software catch? Like, is it super specific grammar rules for formal writing, or weird edge cases in sentences? I'm trying to figure out if holding onto paid tools is just about comfort or if there's a real gap in what the free versions can do.

Actually depends on the tool. My old paid software still catches stuff the free ones completely miss.
