Everyone raves about AI code reviewers, I found they miss the real bugs

Last spring we bid a 14 unit apartment repaint in Tacoma. I fed all the floor plans into one of those AI estimating programs everyone in the trades forum keeps pushing. It was supposed to catch missing doors and windows in my takeoff, and it did find two closet openings I'd skipped. But it also told me to order 30 gallons less of the exterior top coat because it read a shaded overhang as full wall. We ended up scrambling for a rush reorder that added two days to the schedule and killed our profit margin on that job. My point is these tools are decent for double checking numbers, but they don't see the physical quirks like a corner that's actually a masonry column or a soffit that needs different prep. I've gone back to printing out the plans and walking them with a highlighter, which takes me 20 minutes but has saved me more than the $99 a month subscription ever did. Anyone else had an AI tool give you false confidence on a real world job?
