Appreciation post: I spent $40 on a month of Midjourney and it saved my graphic design project after my old software crashed.
The AI generated a full set of placeholder graphics in about 20 minutes, which let me keep presenting to the client while I fixed my main setup, so has anyone found a good alternative for quick visual mockups?

But what happens when the client wants to edit those mockups? AI gives you a static image, not a working file. You're stuck remaking everything from scratch if they want to change the color or move an element. That's not a time-saver, it's a dead end that locks you into a single look.

Yeah, I used to push back on that exact point... thought the speed was worth it. But then a client loved an AI mockup and asked for "just a small tweak" to the layout. I spent more time trying to rebuild it than if I'd just made a proper file from the start. Now I only use it for super early, throwaway ideas.

Ever try using it just for the first round of ideas? I did that for a logo mood board, then told the client the AI image was just a style example. @angelab76 has a point about edits, so I only used it to show color and shape options fast before I drew the real thing in Illustrator.
