Tried two dish soaps side by side: Dawn vs. store brand

I ran a little test last week with a greasy baking sheet that had baked-on cheese. The store brand took three scrubs and still left a film, but Dawn cut through it on the first pass with half the effort. Anyone else notice a big gap between name brands and generics on tough messes?

Three scrubs and still left a film" - that's pretty much what I've seen too. Was this like a basic store brand or a mid-tier generic like the Target or Walmart one? I'm curious if the cheaper ones ever actually work on stuff like baked-on grease, or if they're just good for everyday dishes.

Stopped reading when you said you scrubbed it three times. Three times and it still left a film. That would be an instant return for me, I don't care if it was 99 cents. I've used the cheap Dawn knockoffs on greasy pans and they at least cut through the oil, even if they don't foam up right. Whatever you bought sounds like it was basically colored water.
