Thought the "quiet quitting" trend was just lazy people making excuses

Turns out my coworker Sarah who does the bare minimum still outperforms the guy who brags about working 60 hours a week. Our quarterly metrics just came out and she's top 3 while he's on a PIP. Anyone else see this disconnect at their place?

Same thing happened at my last job. A guy on our team always talked about pulling all nighters and working through lunch. Then the numbers came out and he was missing half his deadlines. Meanwhile this quiet lady just did her assigned tasks, clocked out at 5, and had the highest accuracy rating in the department. Made me realize how much time gets wasted on appearances instead of actual output. Focus on what moves the needle, not how many hours you can brag about.

Did you hear about my friend whose coworker bragged about working 80 hour weeks but got fired for sleeping on the job?
