Blew $80 on a 'ergonomic' office chair cushion, now my tailbone hurts worse

I saw an ad for this fancy kneeling-cushion hybrid thing that promised perfect posture. Figured it would fix my lower back pain from slouching at my desk all day. After a week I felt like I was sitting on a rock, my tailbone actually started aching more than before lol. I should have just bought a proper chair instead of trying to cheap out on a pad. Has anyone else fallen for those trendy desk accessories that just make things worse?

Ngl your "weird sweaty horseshoe" comment killed me because that's exactly how mine felt. I fell for one of those gel cushions that's supposed to mold to your body and after two days it was just a sticky blob under me. My tailbone got so sore I had to sit on a folded towel for a week just to get any relief. Honestly thought I was the only one who made that mistake.

Came into this thread ready to commiserate, honestly. I spent like sixty bucks on one of those memory foam donut cushions people with tailbone issues swear by, and it just made me feel like I was perching on a weird, sweaty horseshoe. By the end of the first day my butt was more numb than a dentist's waiting room magazine.
