That guy on Rigidtalk told me to stop balancing plates on the floor jack, he was right

Last month I posted a pic of my homemade bench setup with a 45 lb plate balanced on the jack handle to hold the bar steady. Some dude named Mike from Ohio commented saying I was gonna lose a toe. I blew it off at first, but then I dropped a plate on my foot two days later. Swapped to those $15 safety stopper blocks from Amazon and now I feel dumb for not doing it sooner. Anybody else ignore good advice for way too long before a little accident made you listen?

You ever get that moment where you realize you've been doing something dumb for months and it took a bruise to fix it? I had a similar thing with not using a spotter bar on squats. Bought a cheap pair of safety arms after I got stuck under the bar once, and that was the end of that.

Heard something similar from my buddy Dave. He used to stack random weight plates under his bench for months, thought he was being clever. Almost rolled an ankle when one slid out mid set, went out and bought proper blocks that same evening.
