Had to choose between praying for a parking spot or just circling the lot...

I was running late to meet my buddy Dave at the Apple store in Clarksville last Saturday, and I actually stopped and asked God for a front row spot right as I turned into the lot... then I felt ridiculous and just parked way out by the garden section instead. Walked through the rain and got soaked before I even got to the mall entrance... Dave laughed his head off when I told him. Has anyone else ever caught themselves doing that weird bargaining thing mid-prayer?

Oh man, I've totally been there. I used to do this all the time in high school when I'd park at our crowded mall. One time I literally said a quick prayer for a spot and then immediately argued with myself like, "Why am I bothering God with this, there's people with real problems." So I just drove around for 15 minutes like an idiot. What finally worked for me was just planning to park far away on purpose. I'd pick the back row right off the bat, no circling, no praying. It saved me a headache and I got a little extra walk in. Now I just laugh at my old self doing that silly negotiation thing.

The prayer thing is funny but it's kind of a misunderstanding of who we're talking to, you know? God doesn't have a line of people waiting with "real" problems while parking spot prayers are some low priority ticket. Its all the same to Him, all of it matters because we matter. But I get the hesitation, it feels silly until you realize He probably just wants you to talk to Him about anything, even dumb stuff like mall parking.
