Changed my mind about taking on small bathroom jobs after that one GC yelled at me

I used to turn down any bathroom remodel under 5 grand, figured they weren't worth my time. Then I did a tiny half bath for a retired couple in Bakersfield last month, the wife just wanted a new vanity and toilet. She handed me a thermos of coffee and said 'my husband tried to fix the sink last week and water went everywhere, you're a lifesaver.' That little job paid for my kid's braces that month, not the big ones. Has anyone else found that smaller jobs end up being more steady and less headache?

That Bakersfield half bath paid $750 after materials for me last year and it took less than a day, but I still think the big jobs are where the real money is at. @blair_lewis85 I respect your take but those small ones chew up my schedule just as much without the same payoff.

Totally get it. Those small jobs can be some of the best. Quiet homeowners who just need one thing fixed and are grateful for it, no screaming or change orders. The big ones always seem to bring a headache or two, but a simple half bath swap is usually in and out in a day. Glad that job worked out for you and your kid's braces. It's nice when the little projects remind you why you started this work in the first place.

Yeah that Bakersfield job sounds just like a little half bath I did last spring, the homeowner was so grateful for something simple and it ended up being one of my easiest paychecks. I mean those small ones definitely add up and keep things moving between the bigger projects.
