Serious question - how do you guys handle meal prep when you wake up at 4 PM?

I've been on thirds for about 6 months now, and I still can't figure out when to cook. Last week I tried making a big batch of chicken and rice at 2 AM before my shift and the smell woke up my roommate. Anyone else got a system that works for fitting in dinner when your day starts at sunset?

okay but like ... is it really that serious though? i mean i get it, it sucks having to cook at weird hours, but you're acting like you're the first person ever to have a 3rd shift schedule. people have been working nights for decades and somehow they manage not to burn down their apartments or wake up roommates. maybe try a slow cooker? set it before you crash and wake up to food. or just eat cold stuff, it's not gonna kill you. i swear half the posts on here are just people overcomplicating stuff that's really not that hard.

Oh for REAL though, when did everyone forget that you can just eat a sandwich or some cereal for dinner? I worked night shift for two years and I swear I lived on yogurt and granola bars. It's not that deep. People act like every single meal has to be a whole production with multiple courses and you're a failure if you don't cook from scratch. Sometimes you just gotta eat a cold tortilla with peanut butter and move on with your life.
