Pro tip: don't get a standing desk converter without measuring your desk first
I spent 3 weeks going back and forth between a cheap $80 standing desk converter and a nicer $200 one with gas springs. Went with the cheap one cause I'm broke. Got it home, slid it on my desk, and the clamp hit the back support bar under the tabletop. Now it sits at a weird angle and I can't return it cause I tossed the box. Anyone else ever buy something that just didn't fit your space and had to make it work anyway?

That "looks super janky but it works" part really hit home. I feel like half my apartment is held together with stuff like that. My desk converter is literally propped up on one side with a folded up sock right now because of that stupid clamp issue. It's so annoying when you think you did your homework and then something stupid like a support bar ruins everything. I keep telling myself I'll buy a proper desk eventually but honestly my janky setup has been going strong for like four months now. Sometimes you just gotta accept the jank and move on with your life.

Oh man that sucks so bad! I did almost the exact same thing with a monitor mount last year. Bought one of those dual arm ones on sale, got all excited, and when I went to clamp it on my desk the C-clamp part was like half an inch too short to reach past this stupid cable management tray that was screwed underneath. Ended up having to hacksaw off part of the tray and then use a stack of old coasters as a spacer just to get the clamp to bite. It looks super janky but it works and I keep telling myself I'll replace it someday haha.
