Had to pick between the 10 year old forklift and the new one with all the safety nannies
Our lead driver called out sick last Thursday and I had to cover a rush pallet job in the back lot. The old Toyota has no backup beeper, no seat sensor, just a clutch and a prayer. The new one beeps every time you breathe. I grabbed the old one because I know it. Got the load done in half the time but my warehouse manager saw me and said if I ding a rack on his watch I'm writing it up. Damned if you do damned if you don't. Anyone else running old equipment just to get stuff done?

Man I used to be all about the new stuff but after watching a guy get his foot crushed by an old forklift that had no sensor I get it. The new beeps are annoying but they save your ass more than you think.

Saw a stat last week that said 70% of warehouse accidents happen with lifts that are over 8 years old, which kinda surprised me honestly. I get wanting to use what you know though, the old ones just feel right.
