My $150 aluminum floor jack failed on me after 18 months
I bought a lightweight aluminum floor jack from a big box store back in January 2023. It was great for tossing in the trunk of my sedan, lightweight and easy to carry. Last week I went to lift my 2012 Ford Focus and the hydraulic seal blew out, dropping the car onto the jack stand. I had to crawl out from under it. I'm considering going back to a heavy steel jack that costs $80 more but will probably last. Does anyone have a steel jack that has held up for 5+ years without issues?

Right, the "had to crawl out from under it" part gets me. That's a real thing with these cheap aluminum jacks. I've seen a few of them fail right around the two year mark, especially if you live where it gets cold.
