Dropped a steel toolbox on my foot last Tuesday - it still hurts
I was unloading my truck in the driveway in Austin and the latch gave way. That thing must weigh 40 pounds easy and it landed right on my boot. Anyone have a good reason to keep using steel boxes instead of switching to aluminum ones?

40 pounds? Man, that's a solid hit. I'm surprised you didn't break something, even with a boot on. That must have sent a nasty shock up your whole leg. I've dropped heavy stuff on my feet before and the bruise took weeks to fade. For what it's worth, aluminum boxes dent way easier and don't hold up to rough use like steel does. Did you get an x-ray or are you just hoping the swelling goes down?

Totally agree on the durability thing. Aluminum boxes save weight but they dent if you look at them wrong and the hinges always go out first. Steel might be heavy but at least it'll survive getting thrown around a job site for a decade.

Right? I dropped a steel toolbox on my foot once and yeah, it hurt like hell but the box barely had a scratch on it. Aluminum would've looked like a crushed soda can.
