Tried to fix my own washer and botched it so bad I had to call a pro

Washer started making this grinding noise last Tuesday. I watched a YouTube video and thought I could replace the drum bearings myself. Ordered a $35 kit online. Got it apart in like 3 hours but then stripped the bolt holding the inner drum. Couldn't get it back together. Ended up paying a guy $180 to come out and fix what I broke. Has anyone else made a simple repair way worse trying to save a few bucks?

Man I heard YouTube fixes are always harder than they look, sorry about your washer.

nah but @ivanlewis i gotta disagree here. youtube fixes are literally a life saver, i fixed my dryer with a 10 minute video and a $15 part off amazon. half the time it's just a belt or a switch that's shot, way cheaper than calling a repair guy who charges like $100 just to look at it. plus you end up learning something useful instead of just throwing money at a problem. yeah sometimes it's a pain but if you take your time and watch a couple different videos it's usually pretty straightforward. i'd rather fail at fixing it myself than pay someone else to do it, you know?
