My manager told me I sound defensive in every email and now I read each one out loud before hitting send.
She pointed out a pattern I didn't see for months and it changed how I write to clients and my boss so now I cut out all those 'actually' and 'just so you know' phrases and my reply rate jumped by 40% in two weeks, anyone else get blunt feedback that stung but actually fixed something?

The real problem nobody's talking about is how much of our writing is just posturing. You're trying to sound like you know what you're doing and it comes off wrong. That 40% jump probably came from sounding like a human instead of a corporate robot. Your boss did you a solid by calling it out blunt. Most people just let you keep sounding like an asshole.
