I finally get why old space movies felt different to me now

Growing up, I always saw those classic sci-fi flicks with shiny ships and thought space was just for adventure. I mean, back then, real missions felt like distant news clips. But after watching documentaries on the ISS crew's daily life, it hit me. Seeing them fix stuff with duct tape or grow lettuce changed my whole view. It's not just about big launches, it's the slow, gritty work up there that matters. Now when I see those movies, I notice the small details they got wrong about living in space. It made me appreciate the real astronauts more. So I guess I moved from dreaming of epic voyages to valuing the quiet, tough job of exploring.

That gritty work turns space into a glorified maintenance job.

But come on, is fixing stuff in zero-g really that deep? It's just a tough job, not some huge life lesson.

Get where you're coming from. Those small boring jobs are the whole point, because that's what makes living up there even possible. The movies always skip that part to get to the laser fights. It's cool you see the real work now, makes the fake stuff look kinda silly.
