The old way of pricing at flea markets vs now

I used to just slap a price on stuff based on what I paid for it... maybe add 20 bucks if I thought it looked nice. But after getting stuck with a pile of unsold tools for three straight weekends back in 2018, I started checking eBay sold listings and local Facebook groups first. Now I look at what similar items actually sold for in my area, not just what I want to get. Has anyone else noticed that pricing based on emotion instead of real data just leaves you hauling stuff back home?

Blew my mind when you said 2018 and three straight weekends. That is a brutal stretch of bad luck right there. I've been selling for years and I still catch myself slapping a price on a vintage lamp or some old records just because I think they're cool. Then I spend the next two Sundays watching people walk right past my table like it's invisible.

I read somewhere that buyers can smell our attachment to stuff, kills the sale.
