Shoutout to the woman at the flea market who taught me about pricing

I was set up at the flea market off Route 9 last Saturday trying to sell a box of old vinyl records. A lady about my age walked by, glanced at my prices, and just laughed. She told me I was losing money by pricing everything at the same dollar amount. She pointed out that a scratched copy of a Herb Alpert album shouldn't cost the same as a mint condition Beatles record. I watched her rearrange my whole table and within an hour I sold three records for triple what I would have asked. Now I look at every item differently and consider its actual worth instead of just slapping a number on it. Has anyone else had a stranger give them advice that actually worked out?

and that right there is EXACTLY why I love talking to strangers at flea markets and garage sales. I had a similar thing happen with an old guy at an estate sale who watched me picking through a stack of fishing lures and basically told me I was an idiot for not checking the hooks. He showed me how some old lures had those vintage Mustad hooks that collectors actually pay real money for. I was just gonna toss them in a bucket for a dollar each but he pointed out three that were worth like twenty bucks a piece because of the hardware. It's wild how one person's random knowledge can completely change how you see things. That woman who helped you probably just wanted to see someone do it right and not leave money on the table.
