The $50 electric blanket I bought on clearance saved me from a $400 heating bill
I picked up this Sunbeam electric blanket at Target for $50 after Christmas last year. My apartment in Minneapolis has old drafty windows, and I was cranking the thermostat to 72 every night. Started setting it to 64 and just using the blanket while I sleep. Has anyone else had luck cutting heating costs with stuff like this?

Whoa there, slow down with the hype. I mean, sure, it probably helps a little, but saving $400? That sounds like a stretch. Running a 64 degree thermostat at night and a blanket isn't some magic trick, you're just not paying for heat you don't need. A lot of people in cold places already bundle up with extra blankets and hoodies for free, so dropping $50 on a gadget isn't exactly a huge savings secret. How do you know it was actually the blanket and not just you turning the heat down?

Got a buddy in Chicago who did the same thing. He swears his electric blanket paid for itself in two months and now he sleeps like a bear in hibernation.
