The neighbor's dog taught me more about ants than any YouTube video did
Last Tuesday I was out back trying to figure out why a colony kept coming back under my shed. My neighbor's golden retriever kept sniffing around this one spot near the fence line. Turns out the dog was trying to get at old bread crusts the previous owner threw out years ago. That's what was drawing the ants in, not some crazy infestation like I thought. Anybody else ever have a pet accidentally solve a pest problem for them?

Was the dog eating the bread crusts too or just sniffing them out?

Oh man, I saw something just like this happen to my friend Sarah at the park last weekend. She brought leftover sandwich crusts for her dog and the thing just sat there sniffing them for a solid 5 minutes. Wouldn't take a single bite, just huffed at them like they were suspicious. Meanwhile this other dog came running over and scarfed down three crusts that had fallen on the ground before Sarah could even blink. Her dog just watched and wagged its tail, totally fine with giving up its snack.
