PSA: My basement dehumidifier has been dumping water into the sewer line for 6 months without me knowing

I set up a continuous drain hose from my dehumidifier into a floor drain pipe last spring to avoid emptying the bucket every day. Just found out the hose slipped out and it's been dumping all that moisture into the sump pit which the pump sends to the sewer line costing me extra on my water bill. Has anyone else had a hidden leak like this slip by for months without realizing it?

Lol I once left a hose running in my garage for a whole summer thinking it was draining into the driveway. Turns out it was just soaking the wall behind a shelf. Found out when my utility bill doubled and the drywall started looking like a sponge.

Oh man, @joseph529, that sounds like something I'd do. Did you ever find any mold back there? I had a similar thing happen but with a sprinkler system. I set it up in the backyard to water the grass, but one of the lines got kinked under the porch. It was just spraying water against the foundation for like two months before I noticed the soil was always wet. My water bill went up by about sixty bucks a month before I figured it out. The worst part was the mud that had built up against the house. I had to dig it all out and repoint a section of the brick. Never felt so stupid in my life.
