Snapped a Dewalt impact bit on a stuck lug nut in a gas station parking lot yesterday
I was trying to change a flat tire on my buddy's truck at 9pm in a Shell lot off I-35 and the bit twisted clean in half, so I ended up using a breaker bar and a pipe for leverage to get it loose, has anyone else had cheap bits fail at the worst time?

right, cause nothing says "im prepared" like snapping a tool in a sketchy gas station lot at 9pm lol. that dewalt bit was probably made from the same metal as a paperclip and just gave up on life. least you got the breaker bar move going, thats the real mvp in any roadside emergency.

Honestly, the real lesson here is that the parking lot lighting was probably doing you a favor. If that bolt snapped at 9pm in a sketchy lot, imagine trying to wrestle with it at 2am in the rain when your phone's at 5%. The breaker bar is a beast, but let's be real, most people don't carry a floor jack or stands for a street repair. They're just winging it on the spare tire and some hope. That Dewalt bit was a paperclip wearing a trench coat, but at least you learned your lesson before you got stranded somewhere worse. Next time, throw a cheap impact socket set in the trunk, they're like $10 and survive more than a torx bit pretending to do a real job.
