My worst day on a job site was when a $200 Dewalt circ saw kicked back and nearly took my thumb off.

It was 3 years ago in a basement in Nashville, I was framing a wall and hit a knot in some pressure-treated lumber, and the saw jumped so bad I still can't bend that finger all the way - anyone else had a close call they think about every time they grab a saw?

Sounds like you got complacent and weren't paying attention to the cut, knots in PT lumber aren't exactly rare.

Nah, knots are sneaky little things. They look solid until you put a load on them and then snap. Always test your cuts now before trusting the wood.
