Beware of those 'free' carpet cleaning services landlords offer
My property manager offered a 'free' steam clean when I moved out last month. I thought it was nice until they charged me $200 for 'pre-existing stains' they claimed the service revealed. Turns out those companies work WITH landlords to find reasons to keep your deposit. Anyone else get burned by one of these 'professional' cleaning setups?

That whole "free" steam clean thing is such a trap. They get you to agree to it and then turn around and claim the cleaning process revealed damage you're responsible for. It's basically a scam to pad their pockets with your security deposit.

Has anyone actually looked into whether the steam cleaning voids the warranty on their carpet? Might be part of why they push it so hard.
