Found out my neighbor's house sold for $15k under mine because the listing photos showed a cluttered garage
I stumbled on this stat while browsing Zillow comps last week, and it blew my mind how much a messy storage space can tank your value - has anyone else noticed listing photos making or breaking a sale?

My own garage looks like a tornado hit a yard sale, so I'm pretty sure I'd have to pay someone to take my house if those photos ever got online. Seriously, I left my holiday decorations out for three years straight and there's a mystery box I'm too scared to open. That $15k hit is rough though, must have been some real clutter commitment to cost that much. Guess I need to clear a path to actually sell one day, or just accept my fate as the neighborhood hoarder with a discount.

My neighbor once found an old VCR in their garage and tried to sell it at a yard sale, only to realize it had a frozen pizza inside from 2008. Three people offered to buy it as a time capsule. That mystery box might be your retirement fund or a raccoon's summer home, but either way it's probably cheaper than that $15k cleanup.

Nah I gotta disagree on the fate acceptance thing. A messy garage is way different from a hoarding situation, most people just need a solid weekend and some trash bags to fix it up. That 15k was probably from years of avoiding one big cleanup, not from being some extreme case.
