The fake interview where I was the one messing up
I spent 3 months doing 'interviews' with a company that kept rescheduling, and it took me until they asked for my bank account number for 'onboarding fees' to realize they were scammers the whole time. Has anyone else almost fallen for one that looked this legit from the start?

Oh honey that is SO familiar. What finally worked for me was asking for a REAL phone number and calling them directly during business hours. When they tried to keep everything through encrypted chat apps and Google Voice numbers I knew something was off. Also if they refuse to do a video call that is a HUGE red flag. I wasted two weeks on a "remote data entry" position where the "hiring manager" always had a broken camera.

Read an article about a guy who fell for something similar where they sent him a fake onboarding packet with official looking logos and everything. The big tipoff was when they asked for his driver's license and social security number BEFORE he even got an offer letter. Wild how far these scammers go with fake company websites and LinkedIn profiles now lol. Another thing the article mentioned was checking if the company email domain actually matches their real website domain, not some weird misspelling like microsoft-careers.net or something. Once I started looking at those details it made me realize how easy it is to miss the signs when you're desperate for a job.
