My cousin called me out on ignoring red flags in job listings
I was telling my cousin Leah about a 'data entry' job that paid $35 an hour and required no experience. She asked me straight up why I kept ignoring that the email came from a Gmail address instead of a company domain. It hit me different because she was right - I'd skipped over that same warning sign in three listings last month alone. Has anyone else had a friend or family member point out an obvious scam clue you were missing?

Oh man, that's such a good point! I actually noticed something similar with my own job hunt last year. The thing that gets me is how these scammers are getting better at faking legit-looking company info. Like I saw one that used a real company's logo and even copied their website design, but the email was still a hotmail address. You're lucky to have Leah calling you out because most of us are just out here hoping for the best until it bites us.

Read this article the other day that said job scams are up like 40% since 2020. Crazy how creative they're getting with it lol.

Fisher.reese said it perfect, these scammers are slick but the sketchy email always gives them away.
