Went against the grain and swapped out my old points for an electronic ignition

Honestly, I used to think keeping points and condenser was part of the charm for my '72 Chevelle. But after a buddy timed my car and showed me how my dwell was all over the place, I caved and put in a Pertronix kit. Runs smoother now, and I don't have to adjust it every 3,000 miles. Anyone else convert and feel guilty about it?

Oh man, I know the guilt you're talking about. I did the same thing to my '68 Mustang last year and felt like I was cheating on the car's soul or something. But then I remembered how many times I got stranded on the side of the road with a burnt point set, you know, in the rain, and suddenly I didn't feel so bad.

And honestly, the only time I miss points is when I want an excuse for why my car won't start at a car show. "Oh yeah, it's the points" sounds way cooler than "dunno, something with the computer brain I guess." But yeah, I'll take a reliable 50,000 mile tune-up over vintage bragging rights any day.
