That YouTube guy's carb rebuild video saved me 400 bucks

I was dead set on taking my 85 F150's carb to a shop in Phoenix, they quoted me $450 to rebuild it. Watched some random dude's 20 minute video on a Sunday afternoon, figured I had nothing to lose, and got it running better than ever with just a $35 kit from Napa. Has anyone else had a DIY repair work out way better than you expected, or did you mess something up first?

Watched the same kind of video for my old Bronco and honestly thought I was gonna mess it up bad... ended up with extra parts on the bench and had to watch it three times to figure out where they went. But once I got it right, the truck ran smoother than it had in years. Still, I gotta say, not every DIY job works out that clean, some stuff is better left to a pro if you're not careful.

lol I had the same panic with my old F150 when I swapped out the suspension. Ended up with two bolts I swore I didn't need and a spring that popped out sideways. Watched the video four times before I realized I had the brackets flipped around. Once I sorted it, the truck sat level and rode way better, but man, YouTube tutorials can leave out those little tricks. Sometimes you just gotta commit and let the extra parts teach you the lesson.
