Tried burying my gray water pipe 6 inches under a gravel bed like the blog said, ended up with a swamp in my yard after three weeks

The water just sat there and bred mosquitoes instead of soaking in, so I learned you really need to dig down past the clay layer at least 2 feet before it actually drains anything around here in central Texas, anyone else have to scrap their whole system and start over after following advice from somebody in a different climate?

Hold up, let me play the other side here. That blog advice probably worked fine for the person who wrote it since they likely had sandy soil instead of the thick clay we've got down south. You can't blame the method when the issue is that you didn't account for your local dirt being basically waterproof until you punch through it.

Haha yeah no kidding. Clay soil is basically nature's concrete once it dries out, no blog post is gonna fix that. You could follow every tip in the world and still be out there with a pickaxe wondering why it's not working.
