Rant: I never considered how my weekend projects affected the guy next door

I'd start sawing and drilling every Saturday morning... My next-door neighbor finally snapped and yelled at me. I thought they were just being grumpy. But then I remembered they work nights... and I saw it from their side. Now I save the noisy stuff for afternoons.

That part about only seeing it from their side after the fact is so common. I see it with noise, but also just assuming everyone has the same weekend routine. We all just assume everyone else is on our same clock, whether it's for chores, quiet time, or even traffic patterns.

Read this book about "time zones" people live in, how we all have different internal clocks for work, sleep, everything. Really made me stop and think about my own assumptions.

Actually putting "quiet hours" on a shared calendar changed everything for my roommates. It stops the guesswork about when people are focused or resting. Makes living together way smoother when you can see the different clocks laid out like that.
