The VHS tape I found at Goodwill turned out to be a local news blooper reel from 1992

I grabbed a beat-up VHS tape at Goodwill for 50 cents last month. It had no label, just a sticky note that said 'do not tape over.' I finally watched it yesterday and it was full of outtakes from a TV station in Scranton. Anchors messing up lines, a weatherman losing his wig on camera. Has anyone else found something like this that turned out to be more than just a blank tape?

Man that's such a cool find, I'm honestly a little jealous (in a good way). I found an old home movie at a thrift store once that turned out to be someone's family vacation to the Grand Canyon, and it had this weird energy like I was intruding on a stranger's memories. But a news blooper reel from 1992? That's the kind of lost media gold that makes you wonder what else is just sitting out there collecting dust.

Nah, see I actually kind of disagree with you there @aaronf40. Finding someone's old home movies or bloopers always feels a little off to me, like that stuff was meant to stay in the family or the news station's trash can. I'd rather leave those tapes moldering in a box than feel like I'm digging through someone else's private stuff for my own entertainment.
