That contractor who quoted me $200 for a job ended up costing me $1,200

I was skeptical when a local handyman said he could fix my fence for just $200, seemed too good to be true. Turns out he used untreated lumber that rotted in 4 months, then my whole section collapsed during a storm. Anyone else have a cheap quote turn into a nightmare with another contractor?

$200 fence specials are just the contractor's way of saying "I'll be back for the other $1,000 later.

I mean, "I'll be back for the other $1,000 later" kinda assumes they're shady from the start. Maybe it's just me but $200 specials could be a legit way to get people in the door, especially if the contractor is new and trying to build up some reviews. You pay the $200, they do the basic work, and if you want more you pay more, that's just how it works sometimes.
