The day my neighbor's tree fell on my fence and insurance actually paid out

Last Tuesday during that big storm, a 50 foot oak came down right on my back fence line. I figured I'd be fighting with insurance for months, but they cut a check for $1,800 within a week. Has anyone else had a surprisingly smooth claim experience, or did I just get lucky?

Getting photos right away and calling my agent directly instead of the 800 number made a huge difference for me too. Saved me a ton of headache.

Oh wow, @miabennett, that's a really good point about the direct agent line. Did you already have their cell number saved from a previous claim or did you have to hunt it down somewhere specific? I'm always worried I'd freeze up and forget where to find that contact in the moment.
