Got chewed out by a paralegal for signing a waiver without reading the fine print
I was at a small claims pre-trial last month in Scarborough and the other guy's paralegal ripped into me for signing a liability waiver on a rental agreement without checking the indemnity clause. She said I basically agreed to pay for damages I didn't cause. Now I read every line of any contract before I sign, even if it's just a 2-page form. Has anyone else had a legal pro call them out for something dumb like that?

Man, that's rough. I had a buddy who signed a gym membership form without reading the fine print and ended up stuck paying for a whole year after he moved cities. Lesson learned for sure, always take the extra minute to read every line.

Harperp31, your buddy's story hit close to home. I did the same thing with a cell phone contract a few years back. Signed up for what I thought was a basic plan, but buried in the fine print was this automatic upgrade fee that kicked in every six months. By the time I caught it, I was already a couple hundred bucks in the hole. Took me three calls and a written complaint to get them to cancel it without a penalty. Now I read every single line of anything I sign, even if it takes ten minutes. It's saved me from a couple more shady deals since then, for sure. People just slip stuff in there hoping you'll skip over it.
