Found out most job listings are fake and it messed with my head

I read a stat that said up to 40% of job posts never get filled, they're just there to collect resumes or make the company look active. Has anyone else wasted time applying to a job that was probably never real to begin with?

Yeah that sucks. Wasted a bunch of time myself on those.

That "40%" number gets thrown around a lot but actually comes from a study that counted listings that were already filled but left up, not deliberate fakes. The real number of straight up fake jobs is probably way lower than that.
